Pocket Pilots privacy policy
Pocket Pilots is made by NimbleBit LLC (“we”). This page says what the game keeps about you, who can see it, and how to have it deleted. See also our terms.
What we keep
- Your sign-in. You sign in with Apple or Google (or, in the Steam app, Steam) so your career can follow you to other devices. We keep a scrambled form of the account number Apple, Google or Steam gives this game, and when you signed in. We don’t receive your password, and we don’t keep your name. The game asks for your email address only to show you, in Options on that device, which account you signed in with: it’s kept on that device, not on our servers.
- Your career. The call sign you choose, your planes, flights, logbook, money, licenses, awards and company, kept on our servers so you can play on any device. Your sync code is the key to it: anyone with the code can play your career, so keep it private.
- Postcards, if you send one: the picture, your call sign and the sight in it, at a public link anyone can open. We keep the internet address it was sent from with it, so abuse can be traced. Postcards are deleted after a year.
- Purchases. Payments on the web are handled by Link, Stripe’s checkout, which sells on our behalf, and in the apps by the App Store, Google Play or Steam. We never see your card details. We keep a record of what was bought, tied to a scrambled form of your career’s number, so it can be credited, restored and refunded. Link’s and the stores’ own privacy policies cover the payment details they collect.
- Notifications, if you turn them on: your device’s notification token, your time zone, the reminders scheduled for you, and a scrambled number for your career, so the game can tell you at once when something happens (such as someone taking over a landmark you sponsor). Turning notifications off deletes the token.
- Play statistics: when you play and for how long, the game version, screen size, language, the kind of device, and error messages. Nothing is kept on your device for them: our server counts players from their careers, once a day, under a scrambled number. They help us fix bugs and balance the game. Raw records are deleted after 90 days.
- Which link brought you, if you came from one of our links or ads: the link’s name, the ad’s number and the reference the ad network added to the link (such as Facebook’s click ID). Your device keeps them for up to 7 days, and your career keeps them from when you start it, so we can tell which links and ads bring players who stay. If it was one of our ads, your career also keeps the country you started in.
- Our ads on Facebook and Instagram. If you came from one of them, then for 7 days after you tapped it our server tells Meta when you start a career, sign in, land your first flight, come back another day or buy something on the web (and its price), so Meta can tell us which ads work and show them to people like the ones who play. With each it sends the ad’s click reference, your browser’s name and version, and a scrambled form of your career’s number: never your call sign, email, sign-in or internet address. Nothing is sent from the App Store, Google Play or Steam apps, from the EU, the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, or about anyone who didn’t come from one of our Meta ads. Meta’s own privacy policy covers what it does with it.
- Reports of a call sign, if you make one: which pilot you reported, when, and your own call sign and company, for NimbleBit support to look at. The pilot reported isn’t told who reported them. Kept 30 days, or a year once support has found the name fine.
- Crash reports from your flights (where, how fast, the weather), kept 180 days to make flying better.
- Internet addresses: we count requests from each address to stop bots and floods (for up to a day). Your career keeps a scrambled form of the last few addresses it played from (never the address itself), so NimbleBit support can see when one person runs several careers in one company. Our servers’ raw logs include addresses and are deleted within 90 days; play statistics never keep them.
What other players see
Pocket Pilots is a shared world. Other players can see your call sign, your company, your plane and where it is flying in the game, where it is parked, your place on leaderboards and world events, and news of what you’ve done (a plane bought, a record set). This is your plane’s position in the game, not your own: the game never uses your device’s location.
What we don’t do
- No ads in the game, no cookies or tracking pixels, and no tracking across other apps or websites (the one exception: what our server tells Meta about players who came from our own ads, above).
- We don’t ask for your contacts, photos, microphone or location.
- We never sell your data. Our service providers only process it to run the game: Cloudflare (servers, storage and play statistics), Amazon Web Services (our domain names), Stripe and Link (web payments), Apple and Google (sign-in, app purchases, notifications), and Meta (measuring our ads, above). The radio voices are downloaded once from jsDelivr and Hugging Face, who see your internet address as any website would.
Deleting your career
In the game, open the Menu, then Options, and under Account tap Delete this career. It is deleted from our servers at once, on every device, with its sign-in, flights, parked planes, place in a company and postcards. Cancel a Pilots Club subscription first, so it stops renewing. What stays: purchase records (needed for receipts, refunds and tax), and your call sign in world history such as past leaderboards and news, until it rolls off.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us what we keep about you, to correct it, or to delete it, at support.nimblebit.com. If you are in the EU, the UK or California, you have these rights by law, and you can also complain to your data protection authority.
Children
Pocket Pilots is for players 13 and over. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if you believe a child has made a career, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and its date, and say so in the game for any important change.
